Stand on the Square

The latest driveway game. We were watching this today before I posted it and near the end Amelia kept saying "Amelia, there's the hexagon" pointing to it on the computer. So cute!

Amelia is 20 months, Fleck is 22 weeks

Amelia has become a little person in the past few weeks. She talks all the time in complete sentences which makes life so much easier for all of us. Yesterday, in the car, she told me "Amelia's sippy cup fell down, I need more water". Even though I couldn't do anything about it, it beats whining and screaming anyday. I explained that I couldn't get her sippy cup until we got home and she spent the rest of the ride saying "Mommy get Amelia's sippy cup at home".

She is also very into describing things using as many adjectives as possible. She always adds colors ("Hi, Black Soxy" or "Daddy has red shirt on") and often uses "big", "little", "hot", "cold", "wet", "dry", and "yucky". She describes the magnetic letters on the fridge by saying "Amelia find a big purple 'W'". She loves to spell her friend's names, a fun car activity. She'll ask me to "spell Lily" and then repeat the letters and scream "LILY" at the end. She knows all her letters, shapes, most numbers, and most colors. She knows the capital of Alaska and Illinios and we are working on the other 48 :o).

It has been super hot lately, but it hasn't seemed to bother Amelia as much as her preggo mommy. She loves playing at her water table and standing in her little splash pool. Our garden is in full swing now and Amelia tries hard to help water it but by the time she carries a small cup of water from her pool all the way to the garden, not much is left! She has, however, figured out the hose so I have to remember to put it on 'mist' so my plants don't get blown away by the jet spray!

Recently, a few friends had babies so I'm using the opportunity to try and explain what is going on in my growing belly. Amelia will say "mommy has baby Fleck in belly" but I'm not sure she really knows what she is talking about. Fleck is starting to move quite a bit. I can feel him but every time Rob puts his hand on my belly, all movement ceaces. I recall a similar calming influence that he had on Spike. He still does actually. Amelia is pretty obsessed with him lately.

Fleck is the size of a Spaghetti Squash-which is rather arbutrary depending on how big your spaghetti squash is of course... About 11 inches and almost a pound is more accurate. We're getting close to the age of ex-utero viability but lets hope we don't have to test that any time soon. I'd prefer he stay in there for at least another 18 weeks.

This pregnancy has not seemed as real as Spike's. It might be because I spend most of time time chasing a crazy toddler, or because I've been there-done that so recently, but the movement and uncomfortable sleeping have helped remind me. I'm starting to feel pregnant rather than just look pregnant. Patients at work are freely asking when I'm due, a sure sign that I've crossed over from "is she really pregnant or just fat?" to "you look like you're about to pop! I can't believe you're still working". Right, 18 weeks left (and clearly a misunderstanding of how big babies are).  Actually, yesterday at work the NP was 8 months pregnant and the radiology tech was 7 months. So when I triage a patient, they are seen by the NP, and then need an x-ray they start to wonder about the water they just drank in the waiting room.

Ok, ok. Enough with the blab. Time for some pictures. Sorry it's been so long.

The new outside game: draw shapes on the driveway, call out a shape and Amelia runs and stands in it!
